If you are missing most of your upper or lower teeth, or your remaining teeth are failing, you may have heard about All-on-4 dental implants. This guide explains what All-on-4 is, what it typically costs, and what to expect if you are considering it in Irvine.
Quick answer
All-on-4 replaces a full arch of teeth (upper or lower) with a fixed bridge supported by four dental implants. Published national estimates usually place it between about $11,600 and $27,500 per arch, and some providers report higher ranges. Your cost depends on the bridge material, whether you need extractions or bone grafting, and your insurance benefits.
This is a general national estimate, not a quote from Sand Canyon Dental. We provide a written estimate after an exam.
What are All-on-4 dental implants?
All-on-4 is a type of full arch replacement. Four implants are placed in the jaw. The two back implants are usually angled to make the most of the available bone. A full set of teeth is then attached to those four implants.
Unlike a traditional denture, the bridge is fixed. You do not take it out at night, and it does not use adhesive. Only your dentist can remove it, usually for maintenance visits.
Who is a good candidate?
All-on-4 may be a good fit if you:
Are missing most or all teeth in one arch
Have several failing teeth that cannot be saved
Wear a denture and are tired of it slipping or rubbing
Want fixed teeth without placing an implant for every missing tooth
It may not be the right choice if you have uncontrolled gum disease, certain health conditions that affect healing, or very limited jawbone. In some cases, a bone graft or a different number of implants is a better plan. An exam and X-rays help determine this.
How much does All-on-4 cost?
Prices vary widely, so it helps to know what drives them:
One arch or both. All-on-4 is priced per arch. Two arches cost more, but usually less than double.
Bridge material. Acrylic bridges cost less up front. Zirconia bridges cost more but are more durable.
Extractions. Removing remaining teeth adds to the total.
Bone grafting. Needed only in some cases, but it adds time and cost.
Temporary teeth. Most plans include a temporary bridge while the implants heal. Confirm this is in your quote.
Sedation. Some patients choose sedation, which may be a separate fee.
Compare quotes carefully. A low advertised price sometimes leaves out the final bridge, extractions or the temporary teeth. Ask whether a quote covers the implants, abutments, temporary bridge and final bridge.

Does insurance cover All-on-4?
Many PPO dental plans cover part of implant treatment, but annual maximums are usually low compared with the cost of a full arch. Some plans cover the extractions or part of the bridge, and some exclude implants completely. Our team can check your benefits before treatment and explain your payment options.
What to expect during treatment
Consultation and exam. Your dentist reviews your health history, examines your mouth and takes imaging to check your bone.
Treatment plan. You receive a written plan and estimate, including the bridge material and the number of visits.
Implant placement. Any remaining teeth in the arch are removed, and four implants are placed. In many cases, a temporary bridge is attached the same day.
Healing. The implants fuse with the jawbone over several months. You eat softer foods during this time.
Final bridge. Once healing is complete, your final bridge is made and attached.
Maintenance. You return for regular cleanings and checkups to keep the implants and gums healthy.
All-on-4 vs. dentures vs. individual implants
Traditional dentures. Removable, lowest cost. They may slip and do not preserve the jawbone.
Implant-supported (snap-on) denture. Removable, moderate cost. More stable than a regular denture.
All-on-4. Fixed, higher cost. A full arch of fixed teeth on four implants.
An implant for each tooth. Fixed, highest cost. Requires more implants and more bone.

How long does All-on-4 last?
With good home care and regular checkups, dental implants can last for many years. The bridge may need repairs or replacement over time, especially acrylic bridges. Not smoking, cleaning around the implants daily and wearing a night guard if you grind your teeth all help.
Frequently asked questions
Is All-on-4 painful?
Implant placement is done with local anesthesia, and sedation may be available. Most patients feel soreness and swelling for several days afterward, which is usually managed with over-the-counter or prescribed medication.
Can I get teeth the same day?
Many All-on-4 patients receive a temporary bridge on the day of surgery. Whether this is possible depends on the stability of your implants.
How long does the whole process take?
From implant placement to the final bridge usually takes several months, mainly to allow the implants to heal.
Can I get All-on-4 if I have bone loss?
Often, yes. The angled back implants are designed to use the available bone. In some cases, bone grafting or a different implant plan is needed.
